Councillors

Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill Parish Council has been a grouped Parish Council since 1977 when Kirkby Malzeard Parish Council and Laverton/Dallowgill Parish Council amalgamated. The only individual activity is at election time with each Council still electing its own Councillors.

There are seven Parish Councillors in total, five of whom represent Kirkby Malzeard, and two representing Laverton and Dallowgill. The current Council will be in place for a term of four years until May 2022.

One of the original Councillors (Cllr Ruth Broadley) resigned in 2018 and was replaced by Cllr Pippa Manson in February 2019 using the co-option procedure.

COUNCILLOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES

Within a small community such as ours, where everyone knows everyone else, there does not seem to be any benefit in one particular Councillor been given sole responsibility for liasing with a particular organisation. If you represent an organisation please contact any Councillor, or the Clerk, and we will endeavour to help.

The Council does provide nominated Trustees to the Kirkby Malzeard Charitable Trust as required under its Constitution. Cllr Lobley is the Trustee for Laverton Parish Council and Cllr Geoffrey Berry is the Trustee for Kirkby Malzeard Parish Council.

REGISTER OF INTERESTS

Each councillor is required to formally declare in writing, any 'Disclosable Pecuniary Interests' or 'Other Interests' which they, or their partner, have, which may be relevant to their work as a Councillor. You can view these via the link below which connects to the Harrogate Borough Council website. By selecting 'Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill Parish Council' and then the name of the individual Councillor, you will be taken to a page where you can select their 'Register of Interests' The definitions of the nature of such Interests are explained within our Code of Conduct document available on the Documents page of this website. 'Close Associations' with friends, neighbours etc are declared at the relevant meeting.
