Councillors

Kirkby Malzeard, Laverton and Dallowgill Parish Council has been a grouped Parish Council since 1977 when Kirkby Malzeard Parish Council and Laverton/Dallowgill Parish Council amalgamated. The only individual activity is at election time with each council still electing its own councillors. There are seven Parish Councillors in total, five of whom represent Kirkby Malzeard, and two representing Laverton and Dallowgill. Each councillor is normally elected for a term of four years but the current term, which commenced in May 2016, will only run for two years as there is to be a reorganisation of Ward boundaries in 2018. The Chairman is Howard Mountain and Mike Hurford is Vice-Chairman.

COUNCILLOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES

At the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council in May 2017 it was decided that this Council would no longer allocate individual responsibilities to specific Councillors. Within a small community such as ours, where everyone knows everyone else, there does not seem to be any benefit in one particular Councillor been given sole responsibility for liasing with a particular organisation. If you represent an organisation please contact any Councillor, or the Clerk, and we will endeavour to help. The exception to this is representation on the Kirkby Malzeard Charitable Trust where Cllr Lobley represents Laverton and Dallowgill Parish Council and a former Councillor Mr Trevor Bowen represents Kirkby Malzeard Parish Council.

REGISTER OF INTERESTS

Each councillor is required to declare any 'Disclosable Pecuniary Interests' or 'Other Interests' which they, or their partner, have, which may be relevant to their work as a Councillor. You can view these via the link below which connects to the Harrogate Borough Council website where these are displayed, and then click on 'Parish Council Membership'. The definitions of the nature of such Interests are explained within our Code of Conduct document available on the Documents page of this website.
